Bonino Elected St Marys Football Captain at Winona

Thomas Bonino of this city was elected captain of St Marys college 1938 football team at Winona Minnesota announced by coach Moose Krause. The junior played full 60 minutes in every of seven games last fall and earned his captaincy from his endurance and performance.

Assign Two New Troopers To State Police Force

Two troopers have been assigned to active duty at the local state police detachment. Oscar Olander, commissioner, and Milo McGowan join Howardson, Jackson, who will report for duty at once. Both are stationary officers, previously with East Lansing school work. A new police car is ordered for service, expanding the detachment’s fire force and equipment to allow more away patrol work. Marine Caesar Urbanski Completes First U S Marines Enlistment

Marine Caesar Urbanski completed his first enlistment in the United States Marines and is visiting his parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Urbanski. He enlisted during the hard days of 1933 when work was scarce and a future looked grim. He served nearly two years in the Orient with stations in Shanghai and on coastal duty. Whether he will sign for another hitch remains uncertain.

Ex Mayor and Commission Clash Over Truck Issue

At a city commission meeting former mayor J P Cloon challenged a deduction of 1933 and 1984 personal property taxes from his city payment for a truck. The dispute over missing equipment on the traded truck led to a partial settlement: the city keeps the new truck, Cloon pays $10 toward taxes within 60 days, and missing equipment is to be replaced. Bids for a police department car followed, with Mayor Wilson backing a purchase yet decision postponed to a future meeting.
