Statewide five day wait ends hasty Michigan marriages
Gretna Greens of Michigan will close at midnight next Wednesday August 26 as an amendment requires a five day wait for marriage licenses effective August 27. Border couples rush to obtain licenses before the reform, which aims to curb hurried unions and prevent ill advised marriages, while opponents warn love at first sight may endure.
