Wakefield school district reports rising student costs and budget

The Wakefield school district reports each student cost at 114.81 with total expenditures of 260,315.14 for last year including debt and capital expenses. Instructional costs reached 142, with janitor wages 18,507.92 and transportation for pupils 6,051.66. Total school value stands at 915,465 with tax revenues 146,765.16 and state funds 47,667.50. The coming year budget climbs to about 73,960 with Supt. Marece to earn 3,600 and salaries rising across the board. Health education and a new school bus will push costs to 12,650.

Ishpeming Gold Mine Suspends Operations and Ration Pause

The Ishpeming gold mine halted rationing for one cement and its future work timing remains undecided. The Payne & Dolan firm of Madison Wisconsin won the contract to surface M-28 from Wakfield east for 22.1 miles with df oil aggregate at a total cost of $98,124. J P Hume Inc of Milwaukee holds contracts for 16 miles of similar surfacing on M-128 and M-73 in Iron county.
