The Wakefield Township School Board election will fill two vacancies due to terms of Wilbert H Juntuila and Harry L Trezise expiring June 30 1966. Filing closes May 14 1966 with no petitions yet. The board includes Mrs Marjorie Jacobson Mrs Esther Swanson Mrs Wyllis Grasso and Mrs Ruth Brentar with ex officio Mr Reuben Maki secretary. Students chosen for Summer Science Training at NMU

Arnestad Wins Contract for Marenisco Post Office
Leo W Arnestad and Marenisco residents were awarded the post office construction contract announced by Congressman Raymond F Clevenger and Senator Philip A Hart. The one story building on Railroad Street is due August with 945 square feet, about one third larger than the current 648 square foot facility. The Post Office Department will lease it for 1310 a year for five years with options to renew for ten more years.

City police report Benjamin Marik of Hurley was charged with driving under the influence and appeared before Judge Williams who fined him 50 dollars and 4 30 costs with a minimum 90 day license suspension. Six Ojibway Job Corp youths were reported lost after failing to return from a planned trip near State Line Lake on April 24 and found safe Monday afternoon after a joint search by sheriff’s deputies state police Job Corp and the forest service. The Wakefield High School Junior Prom on Friday April 22 featured a Blue Moon theme with blue and turquoise decorations and a silver moon backdrop. Prom King Al Inkala and Queen Renee Dillon led the Grand March followed by James Billie and Nancy Johnson, with a large crowd and chaperones plus senior class and faculty attendance.
