Knight of Columbus honors charter member in all day ceremony
A class of 75 candidates will receive degrees in an all day Sunday ceremony honoring charter member Mr Bonino of Wakefield. Bonino joined in 1904 and was knighted in Iron Wood in 1914, advanced to the Fourth Degree in 1919, and served as state delegate to the 1923 Montreal supreme convention and the recent Portland national gathering. He also held local council offices and served as district deputy.
Fire Chiefs Gather To Discuss Prevention In Wakefield
Thirty five members of the Upper Peninsula Fire Chiefs association met Saturday in Wakefield to discuss fire prevention and training of new crews. Chief Frank Trombley of Sault Ste Marie led the meeting with remarks on 1949 fire losses totaling 667 536 000 in irreplacable property, urging year round prevention and spring fall hazard removal. The group will meet again during the Michigan State Fire Chiefs convention in Nemonee July 17 18 19. D M Dimitroff was introduced as the Wakefield chief.

City plans 36000 for street repairs and new storm sewer in Wakefield contingent on council budget approval. Projects cover Hill street Olson avenue Kuivinen street and other sections with black top surface seal coat and county supervision.
