The Upper Great Lakes Human and Economic Development Project was presented in Washington DC on April 1 and 12 by Mrs. E J Hawker wife of the late Frederick L Hawker and introduction to Congressman Alvin O Konski. The two day trip yielded contacts with Senator Griffin and Congressman Ruppe and funding leads arranged by Nate Semple. A report of the Washington trip was presented April 13 14 in Marquette Michigan to the Upper Peninsula regional inter agency coordinating committee for retardation and related disabilities with attendees from Northern Michigan University Alger and Marquette counties and leadership from Dr Edward L Ruman George Maniaci M D and Cory Jansen.
