City Donates Airport Site to County for Development
At a special meeting Friday the city commission moved to present 160 acres near M-28 and the old pumping station to the county for airport development. The site, north of the Tula road two miles from town, has options at $100 per acre and was approved by Major William Centner as suitable for an airport. A petition from major taxpayers seeks immediate land acquisition.

Auxiliary Plans Poppy Sale For Ex Service Men
A local American Auxiliary meeting appointed a committee to organize a May 15 poppy sale to aid ex service men unable to obtain government compensation. The 65 paid up members mark the largest county growth for the unit. A spaghetti lunch followed the Thursday session, served by a volunteer committee. The guilt committee will meet with Mrs. Jacobson next Thursday afternoon.

Plymouth To Shoot 15000 Lbs Dynamite At Mine Blast
Approximately 15000 pounds of powder will be detonated at 5 00 pm Saturday at the Plymouth mine. The charge will be placed in 110 holes drilled into solid rock on the north side of the open pit and fired by electricity from the main office switch. Last Friday a 5500 pound blast echoed through the city with no damage. Public notice is advised as a precaution. within weeks plans call for 175 holes using even more powder.

Military Rites Limited to Legion Members in Upper Peninsula

Bodoh Funeral Held for William S Bodoh
Funeral services for the late William S Bodoh were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the home with Rev Henry Rogers of Union Church officiating. He died April 17 at Hurley Hospital in Flint and his body was returned to this city for interment with I C O F pallbearers Ringmuth Johnson Gilbert Niemi Hill and Henry Running. The burial service of the order was read by Arthur James past noble grand.

Water Carnival Plans Progress Fireworks Night Feature

Five teams and a power shovel began grading at the cemetery on Friday moving more than 450 yards of dirt. If kept up, three week completion would save the city money.
