New Wakefield Mayor Nominee Chairs City Council Meeting
Walter Nunimaker was named mayor at the Wakefield City Council organizational meeting held Monday. Olga Hanson nominated Linn for mayor pro tem, with Linn winning 3 to 2. The council discussed road repairs, gravel sources, a teenage centers ordinance, and other routine business while Mr. Nunimaker pledged to serve residents and uphold good government. Lin wood Noyes, longtime Ironwood Daily Globe editor, died in Florida at 69 after a career leading major press associations. Funeral services planned for later in Ironwood.

Joseph Radowski 81 Dies at Divine Infant Hospital
Joseph Radowski 81 of Route 1 died at 4 am Tuesday at Divine Infant Hospital where he had been a patient since February 15. Born March 22, 1883 in Poland he came to the United States in 1911 and lived in Wakefield since 1912. He was married in Poland to Josephine Pieniski in 1907 who died in 1963. He worked at Castile Eureka and Sunday Lake Mines and later for the city of Wakefield. Surviving are five daughters and five sons with numerous grandchildren. The Lakeside Memorial Chapel will host a rosary Thursday evening. funeral Friday at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial Lakeside Cemetery.

Terry Salmi of Wakefield High School has accepted a four year scholarship to the University of Michigan Ann Arbor based on academics and athletics.
