The Wakefield American Legion Geroux Post No 11 presents a Sunday program from 4:30 to 5:00 PM on WJMS radio. Featured items include They Never Die dedicated to the Legion, Alford Little Symphony Orchestra under M E Maxwell, Jacobson Quartet with To My Mother, a five minute talk on Carrying on For Worthy Principles, Liebestraum by Liszt, piano solo Soiree de Vienne, and Myrtle Nyquist singing A Man's Song with O'Hara Brass Ensemble.
Richard P. Zinn, former Ironwood mayor and board chairman, was chosen as one of two delegates from Michigan's 12th district to the Republican National Convention in Chicago. Lake Linden’s Samuel Eddy won the second delegate spot. alternates were J S Weideman Trout Creek and Ray Turner Iron Mountain. District convention in Ishpeming also adopted repeal of the 18th Amendment and party policy resolutions. Twelve Gogebic County delegates attended.
Members of the Wakefield Woman's club and the Junior Woman's club plan a Thursday banquet at the Community Building. Mothers will be guests of the senior group, while the junior members invite their mothers. Frances Romemapet Peder will speak, Elizabeth Adams is toastmistress, with toasts by club members. Edward Draper plays piano, a vocal duet by Mrs. Collins and Miss Savelli, plus Ironwood Woman's Club selections. An orchestra directed by Arthur Mann will provide music.
State health department reports rabies diagnosed in a dog that bit two cows last week at the Miscovich farm west of Wakefield. Cows are under observation and the city health department urges dog owners to keep pets leashed or vaccinated against rabies.

The Wakefield Student Loan Fund, originated in 1924 and reorganized in 1929, expanded its resources to assist eligible graduates of the Wakefield High School attend colleges or normal schools. The five member board includes representatives from the Wakefield Women’s Club, the Board of Education, and the Superintendent of Schools.

Funeral services for the late Sam Harju were held Tuesday at Grand View Hospital. The service, held for a pneumonia death, was attended by four brothers as pallbearers. He is survived by his father Sam Harju and other family members.
