Danny Negro son of CW2 and Mrs John Negro celebrated his 2nd birthday April 19 at home. Guests included Jimmy Olson Jr Dale Williams Jeannie Williams Kim Johnson Tim JohnsonMatthew Kingsmuth and more. Grandmother made a miniature lamb cake themed Happy Birthday. Social time followed with family and gifts.
Recipients of scholarships for the 1971 72 academic year were named by E Wanink of Wakefield. Each $400 award goes to superior community college students planning to enroll at Northern Michigan University with payments in two equal installments at the start of the Spring and Fall semesters.
Gene Farrell athletic director announces Gogebic Community College will host the Central Intercollegiate Ski Association spring meeting on Saturday April 24 at 1 30 pm in the Jacob Solin Lecture Center. All CISA members invited. Additional information via Coach Farrell.
Jane M. Aho of Wakefield earned winter Dean's List status at Northwestern Michigan College with a 3.00 GPA while carrying at least 12 credit hours. The requirement for recognition is full time enrollment and a 3.00 average or higher.
Personal notices show Mr. and Mrs. Fetters and others visiting Milwaukee Rockford and Duluth while the Michigan Area Suomi Conference festival and church events unfold at First Lutheran. Six WHS teachers retire at year end along with two administrators led by Carl Kleimola and Harry Sutter, detailing careers and plans.
The annual Cancer Crusade begins Monday in Wakefield and runs through Saturday April 24 with co chairs Mrs Richard Brown and Mrs Robert Charlevoix. A kickoff tea was held April 15 at United Methodist Church at 2 00 pm. Funds collected can be turned in at First National Bank. The Wakefield High School Junior Prom follows on Friday April 23 from 9 pm to midnight in the gym with the theme Raindrops Keep Falling. Music by Dick's Music Masters. admission 2.00. balcony viewing 30 cents.
The WSCS of Wakefield Methodist Church will hold a rummage sale on Tuesday April 27 at 9 00 a m at the Lakeshore Veterans Hall. Coffee will be served.
