Planes Down in Wilderness Safe Recovery Planned
Ten crew members of a B-17 bailed out Wednesday morning after a crash near Mirror Lake in the Porcupine mountains. All are accounted for with no serious injuries, and the bomber lies in a tangled wreckage some 12 miles west of Nonsuch mine. Salvage plans await military orders as rescuers reach the site. The bomber, from Sioux City, Iowa, was on a routine flight. Crew includes Sgt Leonard Rogers and Lt Thomas P. Smith Jr among others, with 12 names listed.

David Trezise returned from Milwaukee Wednesday morning and was accepted for naval training under the V-12 program. He will be in the naval reserve until high school graduation in June, then be subject to call for active duty. He will study at an accredited school to train as a deck officer. He turns 18 in October and has three older brothers in the military. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Trezise.

Air Hero Grasso to Visit Parents on Furlough
Emi Grasso, hero of European missions, has arrived in the United States on a special assignment. After quarantine, he is expected to receive a furlough to see his parents Mr. and Mrs. Emil Grasso of Pike. Sgt. Grasso is a seven time awardee, with the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with oak leaf clusters, and the Purple Heart for wounds and gallantry in action. He has three years in air service and spent a year in England.

Sgt Keskey Missing Since 1943 Now Prisoner of War
Sgt. Wiliam Keskey reported missing in April 1943 is identified as a prisoner of war in Germany. He is alive, and the War Department will inform his family of better news while arranging insurance allotment and sending his personal belongings. Keskey earned the Air Medal on February 1, 1943 and later oak leaf clusters for meritorious achievement over continental Europe.
