Attorney Belmont Waples Dies After Illness at 69
Belmont Waples, 69, Ironwood attorney with more than four decades in Gogebic County, died Sunday night at Grand View hospital from pneumonia. Born January 27, 1866 in New Orleans, he studied at the University of Michigan and Michigan Law School, earlier serving as a schoolmaster and principal. He chaired bankruptcy law discussions, represented railroads and Gogebic clients, and led the Gogebic County Bar Association until his death.
