Beachmont notes mix with civic drive and Arctic honors

The Beachmont Improvement Society met at Mr. Perrys with full attendance to elect old officers and pursue raising $75 to gain a town vote. Miss May Littlefield won a beans-in-a-jar guessing contest as nights on the hill and surf at the old cafe drew cheers. Lieutenant Greely’s plea for Lady Franklin Bay survivors highlights neglect in military service and government duty. A Car-Builder feature depicts a dramatic snowbound train collision with two locomotives intertwined, while Mississippi timbers for tupelo gum and willow oak reveal strong, light, durable qualities for water vessels and shipbuilding, with tests showing high crushing and transverse strength.
