Town Council votes 4-1 to create a local business website with Ames Web Design of Luray for up to 1500. The site, urged by local businesses and county economic development officials, should take about 20 hours to build. Some favor a bid process while others prefer free services.

Streets & Public Property with Kite, Comer, and David Hinkle. Police Safety & Judicial with Kite, Hinkle, and Jenkins. Taxation & Finance with Richard Pierce, Kite and vacancy. Parks & Recreation with Comer, Pierce and Jenkins. Industrial Economic Development & Procurement with Jenkins, Comer and Pierce. Community Service with Kite, Jenkins and Pierce. Personnel with Chairman (name not provided).
Nearly 1,000 Spotswood area students joined Spotswood High School’s CommUNITY Carnival run by STARS ambassadors from the anti-bullying committee. Activities included laser tag cornhole and a mechanical ball while 85 student ambassadors aided in running the event. The program, based on Olweus methods, teaches students to say something when they witness bullying.
Elkton based Tactical Walls, formed in 2012, moved to ShenElk Plaza in 2013 and shifted production in 2013 to Elkton after quality issues. Co owners Tim Matter and Chris Wood describe rapid growth as they developed mirror casings that conceal guns, moving from a hobby to a full company.
Renae Eaton runs Country Road Sheepadoodles from her garage at 2556 Sawyer Road in MCGAHEYSVILLE. She began breeding last year after owning Kinetic Kids Gym in Penn Laird, noting sheepadoodles are hypoallergenic and sociable. First litters included four puppies, with May litters totaling 13 and 10 dogs born two days apart. The cross blends an Old English sheepdog and a poodle, producing a friendly, intelligent companion.
United Way of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County finished its day long seven stop bus tour from Broadway to Elkton to Bridgewater in Harrisonburg. Executive Director Laura Toni-Holsinger said the day was incredible as residents shared dreams for the community. The campaign aims to raise 1.2 million dollars matching last year’s goal. The effort supports 34 partner agencies including Mercy House Skyline Literacy and Plains Area Daycare Center. Last year the group provided 13 000 hours of quality child care to working families, demonstrating the community working together to expand opportunities.
