Fifty five East Rockingham High School students visited James Madison University for a close look at the sports marketing program. They arrived at Plecker Athletic Performance Center near Bridgeforth Stadium and met Andrew Westhouse and Colin Dailey as they learned about insider partnership practices and donor viewing areas created during Stadium renovations.

Shenandoah Computer Center will host a Saturday clinic from 11 am to 4 pm on October 12 offering a free website to 10 area business owners. Gary Patterson and Joyce Flaharty will build tailored sites in one hour per student, showing construction and ongoing management.

Elkton residents and visitors welcomed Glenna Loving of Strasburg to Monger Shelter in Stonewall Memorial Park for a morning program titled A Day At The Park. Thelma Hensley Celebrates 100th Birthday in Elkton Area
Thelma Hensley marked her 100th birthday on October 2 at Journeys Crossing with residents and family. A lifetime Elkton resident, she grew up near Mount Pleasant Road, ran a cabinet shop and water hauling business with husband Keiffer Hensley on South Eastside Highway, and moved to Journeys Crossing in 2009. Her great nephew Glendon Hensley attended with wife Barbara, noting Thelma as his great aunt. she credited obedience to her parents for a long life.

Seven months ago Harold Buddy Stanley, an Elkton Air Force veteran, could not hear music. He relied on his wife Lois to relay sound. A January hearing test showed zero in the right ear and about 30 percent in the left. Last week he reported over 50 percent in the right ear and about 90 percent overall.

Giant 782-Pound Pumpkin At Shenandoah Garden Spot
