Elkton approves AutoZone sign permit amid height variance
Elkton town council, by a 5-1 vote, approved a special exception permit for AutoZone to install four signs on a 1.84 acre site at U.S. 33 and Old Spotswood Trail. A 20 foot sign height variance was granted as the property sits 10-15 feet below the roadway. AutoZone plans a late summer to early fall opening. K 9 fundraising total reached 12000 dollars for a new police dog. Officer Trent Meadows travels to Greenville NC for 30 days of training with a 21 pound Czech bred German Shepherd. Shenandoah considers $1 rise in water and sewer rates
The Shenandoah town council reviews Fiscal Year 2016 budgets proposing a $1 increase to both water and sewer rates. Breeden notes funds are shifted from the general fund to the utility fund to cover shortfalls. The move would lift a resident bill from 37.30 to 39.30 monthly, boosting the utility fund by about 22140 annually. A 10 cent per pack cigarette tax hike is also proposed to raise 30000 for the general fund. The general fund budget stands at 1.427 million and the utility budget at 739,506.

The Swishers started the Verona based chimney liner business February 20 1987 and moved operations within two years.
