Scott Painter, owner of Blue Ridge Outdoor Supplies at 100 Shenandoah Ave in Elkton, is named Business Appreciation of the Month by Elkton Downtown Revitalization Corporation and the Town of Elkton. At Shenandoah Computer Center a third genealogy class led by center manager Joyce Fluharty drew four students who used printouts and the Ancestry site to search for birth dates, with discussion of 1600s Virginia tax rolls and a tithable list taxing free white males and enslaved or servant workers.

Bill Royer, Shenandoah native and former Skyline Auto Sales and Ray's Diner owner, now manages Pittman Auto Group in Shenandoah. On March 3 he opened a new preowned lot at 704 S Third St (U S 340) with about 20 late model vehicles, moving closer to his roots.

Upper Room benefit raises funds for Curly Merica family
A charity concert at The Upper Room Church in Elkton drew nearly 200 attendees and featured five bluegrass acts and multiple singers to aid the family of the late Eugene Curly Merica. Organizer Eunice Lam led the event which included a church dinner and raised 2500 dollars, with 600 of that from the youth group. Pastor Barbara Hensley opened with remarks on love and sharing.
