East Rockingham High School’s First Senior Class Graduates
East Rockingham High School in Elkton held a packed graduation for its first senior class, 105 students, 29 with advanced diplomas and one with a 4.0+. The ceremony featured Pomp and Circumstance, a colors presentation, and a speech by commencement speaker Joseph E. Taylor urging graduates to find their gift and give it away. Principal Eric Baylor declared the grads with tassels turned.

Rockets seen over Elkton at Adventurers Club event
Last Thursday night behind the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Blue and Gold Drive a dozen Adventurers Club youths launched rockets from 18 inches to four feet long. About two dozen projectiles flew to 500 to 1600 feet with two dozen supervising adults present. A notable flight carried a live grasshopper named Jiminy placed by Judy Colmer and loaded by Ethan Lovelace, 9, in the rocket’s nose cone.

Seized Crawford properties begin selling in Elkton auctions
Government seized Odell Crawford properties are moving on the market after six sales recorded. Prices have fallen up to 30 percent from prior assessments as buyers seek bargains. Six deeds by last week show properties including 149 W Spotswood Ave sold for 184,900 to Allan Strawderman, James Strawderman and Kenneth Kline, with remaining sales ongoing.
