The 106th Elkton Field Day runs Tuesday to Saturday at Blue Ridge Park with a new Hillbilly Day Oldtime String Band Music Jam Saturday at 1 p.m. after the Field Day Parade, modeled on Galax and Floyd events. Bands include Ragged Mountain String Band and Farm.
Shenandoah Town Council weighs approving a LOVEworks art project under the Virginia Tourism Commission program that reimburses up to 1500 for design and installation. Police say a suspect was detained Saturday in connection with four break-ins on Junior Avenue Senior Avenue North 2nd Street and North 4th. The thefts reported July 10 12 20 and 21 totaled over 6700 in items. The suspect confessed to the thefts according to Police Chief Paul Davis of Shenandoah.
Great Eastern Resort Corporation presented a 5000 dollar check to the McGaheysville Massanutten Lions Club for its 18th annual charity golf tournament at Mountain Greens Golf Course Massanutten Resort on Saturday Aug 23.
