Young hiker and son trek Appalachian Trail to Mount Katahdin

Elkton resident Tim Hupp encounters Paul Molyneaux and eight year old Asher on the Appalachian Trail near Damascus. Molyneaux and Asher aim to hike 2179 miles from Springer Mountain to Katahdin with support from family. The journey, chronicled on Facebook as The Barbarian Utopia, spans Bear Mountain to Damascus and continues through August.

Zoo visit caps Elkton Bible School VBS week

Elkton Seventh-day Adventist Church hosted a forest theme closing night with Luray Zoo animals. Mark Kilby presented a red-footed tortoise, a Burmese python, an African crested porcupine named Snuggles, and a macaw as students watched and touched, while the five VBS classes donated 350 dollars to the Elkton Boys and Girls Club.
