Shenandoah Council awards 2013 community honor and veterans wall additions
At the January 14 meeting Shenandoah Town Council awarded its 2013 Community Enhancement Award to Laura Belle Comer for home improvements at 613 Shenandoah Ave. They approved 64 more names for the veterans wall and discussed a new waiting list to purchase bricks for future memorial expansion. Page County Chamber of Commerce President John Robbins spoke to the council.

Elkton adopts parade and curfew ordinances
Three new Elkton ordinances set parade permit rules and a 48 hour filing requirement. A demonstration is three or more people acting in concert to express positions on political or social issues. Parades, except for service or emergency groups, require a town permit to avoid inconvenience or safety hazards. Approved December 16 by the town council.

On January 14 Elkton Elementary School held its annual geography bee with 17 students, sponsored by the National Geographic Society. Clark Robertson won by correctly naming Florida in response to a Kissimmee River question. Ben Najdzinskaia was runner-up.
