Longtime Montevideo educator Jean Madren dies at 95
Jean Madren, a fixture in Elkton area education, died Saturday January 25. Born November 15 1929 she grew up in Elkton and graduated from Elkton High School in 1947. She earned a bachelor of science from Madison College in 1951 and a master of education in 1966. Madren taught science at Montevideo High starting 1957 and guided students as a counselor for four decades in eastern Rockingham County. In 1980 when Spotswood High opened she moved with colleagues to become the schools guidance director at Spotswood High.
