Charlie Kaufman and Andy Romanowski, both with autism, moved to a rented Elkton home near Nakea Creek Road to work at Mountain Creek Farm. Myers Donation From NADA Gifts Shenandoah Heritage Center
The Shenandoah Heritage Center received a $2,000 gift from the National Automobile Dealers Association Charitable Foundation, inspired by Carter Myers Automotive owner and Shenandoah native Carter Myers. Carolyn Kyger, longtime collaborator with Myers, helped orchestrate the grant. W. T. Shuler received official notice August 25. Myers and Kyger presented the check at Stevens Cottage in a reception hosted by center chairman Dave Hinkle with Mayor Clinton Lucas Jr and others in attendance.

The Elkton based anti drug group Kick Drugs Out of Elkton held its second meeting. Guests discussed strict supervision of Shenandoah Valley Youth Center and bringing James Madison University speakers on drug abuse. Police involvement and engaging Elkton town officials were also mentioned.

End of an era as Elkton Florist closes after 39 years
Velma and Nelson Dofflemyer will shut Elkton Florist on Old Spotswood Trail and Florist Road on Jan 1, ending a 39 year ownership. Unusual reunion ties WWII navigator and German-born visitor
German-born Renate Enge hausen Rickert visited Sunnyside Presbyterian Retirement Community to thank former U S Army Air Force navigator Hugh McNeal and his wife Barbara for saving her life on April 17, 1945. McNeal piloted a B 17 of the 91st Bomber Group toward Halle an der Saale, while Rickert was born that day in the hospital’s second floor birthing room as bombs fell nearby.출
