Buck Buckled On With Company H 13th Virginia Infantry
Samuel D Buck from Buckton joined the Confederates after Virginia seceded in 1861. He rose from sergeant to captain, fighting in Front Royal, Winchester, Cross Keys, Port Republic and Antietam, then retiring with five comrades at Appomattox. His 1925 memoirs inspired a 2007 reprint and a Dec 12 fundraiser at Miller-Kite Museum.
