Good Shepherd Church Faces Upward March in Chicago
The Good Shepherd Church, once peaking at 1136 members in 1930 and dipping to 565 during the depression, has rebounded to 975 and aims for 1000 by June. The cross‑sectional congregation includes Pullman Porters, a Chicago Civil Service Commissioner, state officials, and entrepreneurs, with a summer Idlewild camp, a 350‑plus church school, and a 30‑member book club driving 7,000–10,000 monthly attendees from nearby neighborhoods.
