The note lists lodge activities with warrants dated January 16 1848 for Corinthian Lodge No. 1 True American Lodge No. 2 warranted March 18 718 and St John’s Lodge No. 3 warranted May 20 1848 First Monday meetings at Corinthian and True American lodges are scheduled with Friday St John’s session noted.
Sinai Court No 39 Daughters of Isis held a Friday meeting at Genessee and Central avenue with nineteen members led by Mrs Mary Wetherford Illustrious Commandress. They enjoyed camel milk and luncheon then departed tired yet hopeful for the next gathering. Ill Brother Henry Wetherford is ill at Danville under a specialist care. Mrs Wetherford rushed to his bedside. Brother James W Milligan is very low at St Johns Lodge with little hope. Others on the sick list include John R Jackson Churchill Thos H Lewis 508 George St H W B Bowman Shelbyville Tenn Fred J King Hospital Indianapolis Ind.
Important meetings of all Masonic bodies this week invite broad attendance. Francis M. Russell, Douglass School principal and True American Lodge No. 2 member, bought the large flat at Lincoln avenue and Alms place as an investment. Howard T. Greer, 33rd degree, reelected Commander-in-Chief of King Solomon's Consistory No. 20. Charles L. Porter, D. G. M. of Dayton Ohio, will visit May 15 to meet the Revision Code committee at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday May 15, 1921.
All Sir Knights will appear in full Templar regulation for Friday inspection of Simon Comman dery at 8 p m. meeting emphasizes proper regalia and orderly conduct of attendees.
Notes of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People urge enlistment with the Cincinnati branch. The meeting at First Baptist Church Walnut Hills featured Rev Green and Rev B S Smith, with Colonel C E A Hunt as lead director and early arousal of Negro participation noted. Membership fee is one dollar.
Maurice F. Mays was convicted in Knoxville Tennessee and sentenced to die for the murder of a white woman. The jury reached a verdict on one ballot. A new trial hearing is set for May 7. Detector Chas H Slater has raised over $3 000 in support and claims a frameup by personal motives. Slater asserts the case hinges on circumstantial evidence. he argues white defendants would receive no sympathy. The piece urges vindication for Mays.
