War inventions coming to light
General Electric engineers reveal new wireless tech including a barrage receiver that silences unwanted signals and a separate sending and receiving system linked by a wire line to the local telephone network. Ernst F. W. Alexanderson describes how these ideas, once war confined, could transform civilian wireless telephony and home use.

First Horses in the United States in 1629 in New England
The first horses arrived in 1620 but oxen dominated early American farming. Oxen proved stronger for work on rough land, were cheaper to keep, and required simple harness. Horses were seldom admired, with farmers preferring large oxen and limited care outside work. Colt wintering aimed to toughen young horses.
