The Artists Guild featured Cincinnati author and journalist Clarks B. Firestone in an outstanding Wednesday lecture. Supporting performances included solos by Terrigan Sanders with Myra Turner on piano and an accordion solo by T. C. Green. A beautifully arranged luncheon concluded the program.
Mrs Margaret Peak delivered a instructive sermon at Lee Chapel AME Church Sunday night March 4 on Quench Not the Spirit. The presiding elder assisted and a spiritual service was enjoyed. Miss Mary Jane Houston hosted a large gathering Saturday at her residence with many friends in attendance. Miss Eunice Eakins from North College Hill visited a friend, Mr. James MacDonald of Hopkins Street, for an evening. The Epworth Leagues of Evans M E Church and Milford Church shared a very pleasant Sunday. Mr. Fish, still ill, has a new box address at R F D 9 Box 229 North College Hill.
Madisonville notes honor prominent citizen H P Mann who died Friday and was burned from his home Monday. Rev L P Mitchell, Trinity Baptist, drove to Lima with his wife to preach the funeral of ex-member George Washington. A surprise party celebrated Mrs Spaulding Dickerson at 6306 Chandler St. Rev C M Harris Gaines Methodist convalesced after a serious operation and preached last Sunday. Rev L R Mitchell attended National Baptist Sunday School Congress in Nashville preparing for the National Meeting in Washington DC next June.
Mrs Maggie Taylor spent an afternoon with Mrs Grace Gustian of Walnut Hills. Misses Mary and Maggie Hakins are ill but convalescing. The Young People's Dramatic Club of Second Baptist Church presented The Church in the Wildwood. President Earnest Taliaferro. director Kelly Houston. Mr Randolph and Miss Turner recently married and plan a European honeymoon. Mrs Julia Clark visited Mr and Mrs George Fish Saturday.
East End News notes Susie Wilson, assistant secretary of the Better Dramatic Club, earned second prize in Pencil Drawing at the Girl's Hobby Fair. The era lists birthdays, deaths, church programs, troop 325 registrations, and sick list items including Robert Rhodes Jr and Wthel Walker as part of local notices.
