Antique Show's Objects Of Art in Detroit Tribune

During research for exhibits at the Antique and heirloom show to be held at the Kappa Alpha Psi house on 269 Erskine Street Sunday February 20 Fred Hart Williams toured the Burton Historical Collection with Mrs Ellein Stones chief of the collection department. The visit yielded a photographic copy of a painting by Robert S Duncanson showing a child heir to a rich French Canadian Detroit family. Further history traced Duncanson to a studio over Samuel Watson's store a noted Detroit druggist and early colored city official. An 1846 Detroit Advertiser mention cited a Duncanson exhibit at the old Fire Hall Wayne and East Larned. More findings led to William Woolfenden and Pauline Gnay at the Art Institute. Old institute records named Duncanson but not his works.
