Simon Commandery No 1 K T joined St Paul Commandery No 7 in Covington Kentucky for Easter. A 100 uniformed Knights parade downtown to Ninth Street M E Church for a service program. Eastern Star chapters held Easter services at Dirt Street M E Church Cumminsville with guests from Simon Commandery. Building Committee held another rousing meeting with a packed hall and strong encouragement.

In Wilmington on March 26 four Black inmates were publicly lashed with a cat o nine tails under Warden Plummer, the harshest Delaware punishment in 30 years. Over 100 spectators watched as officials defend whipping as a mark of disgrace for criminals.
The text notes theft of various degrees and wife beating, stating it is believed to be the only state in the Union to retain it, except Maryland where it is occasionally invoked against wife beaters.
Wilfred M Voynich, medievalist, argues Roger Bacon used the microscope. He says Bacon’s manuscript decipherment suggests knowledge of medicine and micro organisms and possibly steam and electricity. Voynich notes Bacon anticipated later advances in telescope and microscope.
The passage cites Dr. Voynich praising Bacon for knowledge essential to medicine, including the telephone he supposedly invented, experiments with flying machines, and mastery of magnetism. It presents these as among the greatest relevant to physicians.
Chicago critics hail King D. Ganaway, a Tennessee born Negro butler, for a prize winning photograph "The Spirit of Transportation" at the Philadelphia Wanamaker Exhibition. He faced 900 competitors and earned first prize with a scene of a two section train under a shed. An honorable mention went to "Children in the Country" showing a boy and girl on a teeter totter. Ganaway has worked for 17 years for Mrs. Edward F. Lawrence on Chicago's Gold Coast.
