1st regional session Parish councils meet in Newburgh
The Orange and Rockland Vicariate holds a joint lay cler gy regional meeting on parish councils Oct. 19 in Rockland County at Albertus Magnus High School Bardonia. Newburgh Broadway surface upgrade underway on main route
Newburgh's West End Broadway is being resurfaced in a 40,000 project. Lt. Robert E. Jackson of the police traffic division said Friday that weekday tie ups were normal as traffic patterns shifted to side streets. Motorist flow was directed along Washington Terrace Fowler Ave South St Chestnut Locust Wisner and Washington St while crews laid the final macadam coat.

Venue change denied in Ulster murder trial
Ulster County court denied moving the murder trial of Charles Culhane and Gerald McGivern out of Ulster County. The pair, both 23, are charged with killing Westchester Deputy Sheriff William Fitzgerald during a transport incident on the Thruway at Plattekill last September. The case marks the first capital murder trial in New York since 1965 death penalty abolition for most cases.

AHRC Sets Monday Meeting In Mechanicstown School
AHRC will hold a membership meeting Monday at Mechanicstown School at 8 p.m. Executive director Edward J. Tangney will outline plans for a proposed Orange County mental retardation center aimed for completion by June 1971. He will discuss long range services based on the association survey.
