Firemen seek reopening of 1973 contract talks in Middletown

Negotiators for the Paid Firemen's Association ask to meet the Middletown common council to reopen negotiations for a new 1973 contract aimed at matching police salary increases. President Chester Seeley said he contacted Alderman Kenneth MacVean for a meeting but no reply yet. The police package includes a 600 dollar across the board raise with longevity boosts and higher raises for sergeants and lieutenants, while firemen seek similar terms plus one third of accumulated sick time for retirees and resignees.
