United Press International reports a record traffic death toll for the four day Thanksgiving holiday with at least 675 people dead by Sunday night, led by California 47 and New York 35, while several states report high fatalities and the National Safety Council offers no advance estimate for highway deaths. Two 17 year old newlyweds were among Saturday night casualties on U.S. 52 near Pineville Kentucky.

A Greyhound bus from Birmingham to Mobile overturned on rain slick State Highway 22 south of Safford Alabama, injuring 25 passengers. Troopers said the bus rolled one and a half times. witnesses reported passengers strewn along the highway, with many children among the injured. Doctors expect all 25 to survive.
