President elect Richard Nixon announced a nationwide search for brains judgment creativity and youth to fill about 2000 middle level policy making jobs across departments and agencies. A computerized data system and a 50 person staff in Washington will screen prospects led by Harry Flemming. John Ehrlichman will oversee the program.

Court says Speck must die for 8 murders
Illinois Supreme Court on Friday upheld Richard Speck's conviction and death sentence for the July 14 Chicago nurses massacre. Executions set for January 31. Speck's attorney Gerald Getty said an appeal would go to the U.S. Supreme Court on the same grounds rejected by the high court.
