Thai leader warns of absolute punishment after coup

Field Marshal Thanom Kittikachorn warned officials they would face absolute punishment, possibly execution, for actions against national interests under Thailand's new military controls. His Revolutionary Party dissolved the cabinet and parliament, imposed martial law, and formed a new cabinet expected within days.

Cambodian Counterattack Fails Near Phnom Penh Ambush

North Vietnamese infantry ambushed Cambodian troops 11 miles east of Phnom Penh, pinning them for two hours. At least five Cambodians were killed and 50 wounded before retreat. Cambodians later bombed with napalm as UPI photographer Don Sharpe reported.
