Champagne Lady Persists After Truckers Rally At Goshen Diner
Snow Goose and about 50 CB operators organized a rally at the Goshen Diner to urge the Champagne Lady to stay on Channel 19. Hundreds sent cards and letters, and Champagne Lady vowed to continue broadcasting, despite a prior rude message. Old Timer warned that abusive language on air could violate FCC rules with possible fines or jail time.

Fire at 48 Benjamin Avenue Gutts Middletown Home
Ralph Shoemaker and his family escaped unharmed as flames and smoke engulfed the attic of their wood frame house on Benjamin Avenue. Firefighters fought the two alarm blaze for about an hour, injuring one firefighter and causing extensive damage to the attic and home. The cause is under investigation, with electrical breakdown considered by the owner. The family plans to live with relatives until repairs are completed.

Rain halts painting of Newburgh bicentennial schoolhouse
At Temple Hill School in Newburgh kindergarten and first graders worked under supervision to coat a one room bicentennial schoolhouse in red paint before a sudden rainstorm halted progress. Principal Ronald Shapiro said painting resumes next Saturday for grades two through four.
