Gas rate hike denial for NYSEG to affect Goshen residents
The State Public Service Commission refused a $2.7 million temporary gas rate hike for New York State Electric and Gas Corp. The proposed increase would have raised Goshen bills by 65 cents to $1.75 monthly for about 1,200 residents. NYSEG had sought a larger $3.29 million rate rise and argued earnings declines and a downgrade of its preferred stock. The PSC found no urgent need and set July 15 for protests. NYSEG serves Mechanicville Elmira Owego Dansville Nunda Goshen Lockport and Oneonta Norwich areas.
