Orange County Lettuce Shipments Leave for Germany
The Defense Department subsistence center bought 1900 crates of Orange County lettuce for military use and export to Germany. Purchases ranged from 0 to 5.40 per crate, with 10380 dollars returned to three local dealers. Santora Brothers supplied 600 crates to Landover Maryland, Edmund Sobiech supplied 600 to Richmond Virginia, and George Garcia Farms supplied 700 crates for vacuum packing to a New York pier for export.
