Pilots Strike Tests Court Ruling Over Hijack Plot
United Press International reports ALPA leader John J. O'Donnell pledged to defy a court injunction and push a 24 hour walkout by about 45,000 pilots to pressure governments to curb hijackings. The strike, called SOS, affected 13 foreign nations with mixed airline responses and injunctions blocking action against Pan American TWA and Western.
