Poher Gives Secret Funds To Charities In Runoff Bid
Acting President Alain Poher announced he would donate thirty thousand dollars of Elysee secret funds to the French Red Cross the National League for Cancer Research and the National Association for Medical Research saying he did not need the money. He mailed checks for sixteen thousand dollars to each charity and scheduled final campaign events in Bordeaux and Toulouse before Sundays runoff against Georges Pompidou.
