ICC Lets Penn Central Abandon Catskill Line
An ICC initial decision allows Penn Central to abandon 84 miles of the Catskill Mountain branch from Kingston to Bloomville citing four years of losses and no forecasted traffic increase. Rehabilitation would cost about 1.3 million, deemed an economic waste. The line serves 15 stations in Delaware Schoharie and Ti ster counties with trains twice weekly.
