Legislature approves lowest supplemental budget with raises
Albany lawmakers easily pass the smallest supplemental budget in seven years. All 207 legislators get a $2,000 pay raise, and expense increases up to $7,000 for some senators. The Senate advanced the package 40 to 6 with 38 to 18 on expenses, while the Assembly approved both measures 120 to 28 and 92 to 57 amid sharp criticism.

Never in trouble slayer gets probation in New York
Angelo Patrick, 41, a South Fallsburg poultry butcher, pleaded guilty to second degree assault after manslaughter charges. He received five years probation from Sullivan County Judge Benjamin Newberg on DA and police chief recommendations. The case stems from a Sept. 6, 1968 death of James Williams Jr. in Fallsburg after a dice game dispute. Williams had a prior arrest record. Patrick, father of eight, had been out on bail and had no prior trouble cited. In a separate matter, Christopher L. Dailey, 23, of Narrowsburg, pled innocent to four narcotics charges.
