Middletown May Get 750000 in Aid Under Bill
Middletown School District could gain nearly 750000 in financing relief from a bill before Gov Rockefeller allowing three year financing of employee retirement and social security costs to be excluded from tax limits. The measure, aimed at city districts including Newburgh and Port Jervis, runs through June 1970 and may be tied to a constitutional amendment ending city tax limits. Quick says it could free up the taxing limit without a referendum but a veto is possible if funds are unavailable. The district seeks urban aid and other increases in state aid while girding for matches against higher demands from teachers and retirement costs.
