Double ambush by Viet Cong near Saigon and raids
Viet Cong guerrillas raided the town of Binh Chanh ten miles west of Saigon in daylight, attacking a government battalion with two thrusts from opposite sides of a mountain road. About a company of guerrillas overwhelmed the Rangers, killing one and wounding seven before being driven off. U.S. Marines and planes supported Vietnamese forces in related engagements and bombardments of North Vietnamese targets.
