15 Die As SAS DC8 Crashes Off Los Angeles
A Scandinavian Airlines DC8 carrying 45 on board crashed near Los Angeles International Airport amid rain and rough seas. Ten bodies found, 11 missing, five seriously injured survivors. Coast Guard and private boats searched through the night as debris drifted in a mile area. The front fuselage and wing sank in 300 feet, tail section and black box at risk of loss. Identified dead include Gerhard Jordan of Germany and Jules Martinet of Inglewood. survivors and missing spouses are noted.
