Middletown Mayor threatens veto over Dec. 30 budget vote
Mayor Myron R. Perry warned he will veto the Dec. 30 budget approval if the five new aldermen and three incumbents do not revote Monday. The $4.547 million 1976 budget was passed by a lame duck council after slashing funds and closing two city agencies. Perry criticized the move as illegal and irresponsible, noting the session followed a council vote to table until Jan. 5. If vetoed, the new council can override by a two-thirds vote. Jan 9 is the veto deadline.
