Giant Chinese mortars found in allied sweep near Kontum
South Vietnamese troops probing south of a key Central Highlands fire base uncovered four Chinese-made 160mm mortars about five miles away. Believed first of their kind seen in South Vietnam, the guns lay within range of Fire Base Five and Kontum City defenses. Earlier sweep exposed Communist artillery tunnels above the base.
