Rep. Adam Clayton Powell accuses Sen. John J. Williams of inaccuracies and lies about Powell’s conduct and taxes. He defends travels to Puerto Rico as paid by him, blasts allegations of favorable federal treatment, and notes Kennedy’s support for a juvenile delinquency project. Powell’s wife works on his payroll and translates Spanish correspondence.
State Comptroller Arthur Levitt announced the distribution of 11.72 million dollars in per capita aid to New York municipalities. Orange County will receive 233,519.55, Sullivan County 49,048.39, and Ulster County 140,089.96. Cities are funded at 6.75 per resident, towns at 3.55, and villages at 3 per resident.
The fourth annual meeting of the Orange County Vegetable Improvement Cooperative Association will be held February 25 at the Village Tavern in Florida.
