UPI reports American warplanes resumed the heaviest air strikes in four years across South Vietnam minutes after the Tet truce ended. Pentagon said B52 bombers from Guam took part in raids. The strikes target a mounting Communist buildup and are expected to continue through Friday with possible extension beyond.
Saigon UPI report says U S command orders 4 58 thousand troops pulled from South Vietnam during Tet to reduce risk of a Communist offensive. Nixon aims to cut at least 70000 by May 1, leaving about 69000 or fewer. Bulk of withdrawals affect engineers medics MPs and support units amid 131000 on duty nationwide.
