Demonstrators converged on Washington on Saturday in what officials called one of the largest and most peaceful protests in history with more than a quarter of a million people and no untoward incidents reported.

Association offers to take bigger classes
In Monroe-Woodbury a teachers association proposed a one year job freeze and moratorium on class size to offset state budget cuts.
